Human Resources is evolving rapidly in Sri Lanka with digital technology where the authoritative bodies like CIPM, Ministry of Labor and Foreign Employment, SLIHRM, and TVEC are involved in spreading the standards and proper implications to all the educational to professional levels.

More data and digital tools are being used by businesses to improve their decision-making. Although this is a significant step, HR professionals must also become proficient in the use of emerging technologies, such as data analytics and artificial intelligence (Forbes, 2023).

Integration of AI and Digital Transformation

HR can operate more efficiently by utilizing AI and automation. AI, for instance, may assist with hiring, using chatbots to respond to employees' inquiries, and analyzing employee data to make better decisions. However, HR personnel must have digital skills training for this to work (SHRM,2023).

Rise of Remote and Hybrid Work Models

Remote work became popular after COVID-19, and many Sri Lankan businesses now offer it as a choice. (McKinsey, 2021) This implies HR needs to concentrate on managing remote workers, facilitating online teamwork, and ensuring new hires feel welcome even when working from home.

Workplace Health and Work-Life Harmony

Employee happiness and health are becoming more and more important to businesses. This includes offering training on stress management, mental health initiatives, and flexible work schedules. According to studies, workers perform better when they are content and healthy (Deloitte, 2023).

Development of Skills and Ongoing Education

Because of the rapid changes in technology, workers must constantly acquire new skills. Businesses are utilizing AI-based training and online learning platforms to support employees' development.  (World Economic Forum, 2023).

Observance and Moral HR Procedures

HR is subject to additional regulations as a result of new labor legislation and data protection rules. Additionally, HR must ensure that the AI process is impartial and fair when it comes to hiring or employee evaluations. This promotes trust and keeps legal issues at bay. (SHRM,2022)

Below attachments of the News field hold the proofs for AI applications to the Sri Lankan HR field.

Oracle's most recent AI-powered technologies are revolutionizing HR department operations and providing Sri Lankan companies with previously unheard-of chances to improve employee experiences and increase productivity. Oracle's dedication to changing workplace dynamics through intelligent automation and customized experiences is demonstrated by the launch of role-based AI agents and complete AI platforms. Oracle Fusion Cloud Human Capital Management (HCM) now includes new role-based AI agents that are specifically made to assist HR and business executives in improving employee satisfaction and workforce productivity. By automating time-consuming end-to-end processes, these AI agents free up staff members to concentrate on other important tasks that benefit the company. For Sri Lankan companies seeking to update their HR procedures while enhancing employee retention and satisfaction, the timing couldn't be more ideal. (Oracle,2025).

An important turning point in changing workplace dynamics in Sri Lanka was reached with the Generative AI (Gen AI) workshop organized by AHRP in partnership with SHRM. Local HR experts are given cutting-edge methods and resources by this innovative project to fully utilize AI, especially generative AI, throughout the employee lifecycle. The session focuses on real-world applications in performance management, engagement, development, talent acquisition, and management.
Participants become adept in improving HR processes by utilizing Gen AI approaches, which promote flexibility, efficacy, and efficiency. In order to ensure responsible AI adoption, the curriculum also addresses ethical issues and data protection concerns. Participants gain a digital credential upon completion, improving their position in the workplace. (Daily Mirror,2025).

In conclusion, flexible work arrangements, digital technologies, employee care, and ongoing education will all be critical to Sri Lankan HR in the future. To stay on top of these developments and provide efficient support to the organization and its employees, human resources professionals need to be up-to-date and flexible.
